About Us
Where every listing tells a story, every connection sparks opportunity and together we can amplify the resounding impact of woman-owned businesses across Maine
About Us
The Maine Women’s Business List was initially created in 2020 as a means to provide more visibility for woman-owned businesses across Maine. Because business registration at the municipal, State or Federal level does not include a checkbox for gender, it can be challenging to understand the breadth and depth of the businesses run by female entrepreneurs. This list aims to be a resource for an individual looking to shop woman-owned, an entity looking for a female-owned firm to provide services, a news reporter looking for a lead on a story about a female entrepreneur, and so much more.
The Maine Women’s Business List aligns with the definition of women and female that explicitly includes not only cis women, but also trans women and femme/feminine-identifying genderqueer and non-binary individuals.
Our Purpose
The Maine Women’s Business List raises the visibility of the amazing female entrepreneurs powering Maine’s economy. By shining a spotlight on the many woman-owned businesses in Maine, we create opportunities for consumers to wield their purchasing power for a purpose. The Maine Women’s Business List is more than transactions: it fosters connections with and among female entrepreneurs, and celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit that defines Maine’s business landscape.
